The QUASAR / PULSAR is a double optical Theremin synthesizer.
The Theremin Synth has two audio oscillators Square Wave (tone generators)
The frequency / pitch of two oscillators are each controlled by a "PHOTO-CELL"
A photocell is an electronic device that responds to light of varying levels.
Oscillator 1 (QUASAR) through the entire audio spectrum from approx.
15 Hz to 10 KHz
Oscillator 2 (PULSAR) through the entire audio spectrum from approx.
0 Hz to 50 Hz
PULSAR is "patched" (connected) QUASAR
"Audio Out" is from QUASAR via a standard 3.5mm jack on the back of the unit.
Both units are powered from a standard PP3 type (smoke detector) type battery and the switch - on automatically when the audio jack is inserted into QUASAR
The QUASAR / PULSAR played with both hands .....
The left hand controls QUASAR
The right hand control PULSAR
As your hand approaches the photocells on each unit, the
Frequency / Pitch decreases in sympathy
Below are video clips demonstrating the capabilities of the
QUASAR / PULSAR SYNTH Theremin
If possible, it is best to connect your PC sound card to a high quality sound system to fully appreciate the Synth.
