Do you buy gift cards for family members to give as Christmas gifts? My husband said no because the gift cards are not personal. I think the other gift cards are great. Especially for your parents or grandparents who have everything they want or need. What better way to dine out at your favorite restaurant or go shopping for you. When someone gives me a gift card I love it! I also buy gift cards of $ 25.00 during the year for me and place them in a box. That way, when Christmas time comes around, I can do my shopping with these gift cards in my little box.
I totally understand where your husband is coming, I really resisted the idea of ae‹ae‹gift cards at first, but I found an acceptable compromise. I want to get the gift card and something personal and small and wrap it with. Then it is not immediately clear how much you spent and it shows you thought of them personally instead of just grabbing a card from a shelf at the store. Depending on who you \ browse for some ideas box of chocolates, mugs, a keepsake box, a CD (maybe the Christmas music, they are usually pretty cheap), baked goods, a small piece of jewelry.
Well, once again the age old rule, a gift that you want to like you. I like gift cards, and I understand the feeling that it can be impersonal, but really who does not get into a store and pick up something they do not have to pay for? And they are not completely reckless, for example, if a gift you who is still working on their house a Home Depot gift card, they would like. Or someone who makes a lot of business gift card craft store .. so they not only appreciate, but realizes the feeling behind it! :)
I have never bought gift cards for my parents, but I do it for my children. Mainly because my children want is too expensive for me to buy for them so they can just add the gift card to their own money to help them get what they want. They also want things I can not buy iTunes as you need a map to ...
Sometimes I will buy gift cards, especially for those friends or relatives who live Inter - shipping costs are so expensive and a small gift can easily end up costing me twice as much to give.
My girls are always short of cash, so they are delighted to receive a gift card. In addition, a day or two after Christmas is when all the stores start their sales and the value of the gift card can be stretched up to 100% more. It makes me intelligent and my daughters happy.
Good old dad - it's not just a pretty face ... LOL ...
Yes, I bought a gift card http://www.dsstyles.com/en/iphone-3g-3gs-cases/gift-card.html?vmcchk=1 so they can buy their products Apple Accessories needed:)
I disagree with your husband. Gift cards are a great way to share the holidays with someone. And if they can buy anything they want, they are much more likely to enjoy your gift.

Yes. I buy gift cards so they can buy what they want. Because sometimes, they may not like what I get them and end up not being used / worn.
I am a mother and grandmother. I think gift cards are great. I'm on a fixed income so I like the cards restaurant.
I always give gift cards when I do not know what else to find someone. Or I get them a gift card a gift, so they get both:)
