Planning a Bar Mitzvah Party

Historically, there was no extra celebration held when a Jewish boy reaches the age of 13. The Bar Mitzvah party is a modern innovation that takes place after the ceremonial part of the synagogue.

It is important to keep in mind that this is a special day for the guest of honor, but their personalities should be taken into account in planning the party. Not all teens are happy to be honored for an entire party. The party is a way to share the celebration with family and friends, but can be as large or small as you want. Generally, the party is going on in the afternoon or evening the same day as your child turns to the synagogue.

First you must decide your place. This will be led in part by the number of people present and the type of mood you are trying to reach. Your synagogue may have suitable rooms available for rental, or you may prefer to reserve a room or hotel.

The next important thing to plan the food and drink. If you hire a room, then you can offer food, or you can order catering. The restoration can be a part of the services of the supermarket, or you can use outside caterers, whichever works best.

Drink should also be considered, especially if you're in a hotel, as you may want to have a deposit behind the bar and a cash bar thereafter. You must choose what suits your needs and budget.

You will also decide on a theme and entertainment. These could vary depending on whether your party is mainly aimed at younger customers, or adults.

Send your Bar Mitzvah invitation out to let the guests know they are invited. They can be formal or informal to fit in your chart, and remember to send in sufficient time to allow for answers to you in time for the restoration of organization.

Depending on your choice, you can arrange tables decorations, reserve or to recommend hotel rooms, arrange transportation, photography, speeches place cards, and more. You can choose to be as lavish as you like.
